It was a fantastic Regatta. This was the 21st year of the Canadian Championships. Although we missed the Victoria Fleet we had a little bit of their history with us . La Galatea, raced by Colin and Megan Rose in their first Canadian Championships, was a Victoria boat raced by Peter Coy for many years. Colin and Megan are our newest members and are a great addition to the fleet.

Saturday we had 10 knot westerly winds and PRO Paul Evenden and race committee were amazingly organized and did a great job on the course. We had 6 fleets racing 3 various windward marks and had gates on the leeward run. We got 4 races in and then we enjoyed a great dinner and evening at the club.

Sunday was a bit of no show with the winds and the AP flag was up for about an hour and a half before racing could begin. The racing was very competitive as one would expect for the Canadians.
There were many close finishes and entanglements at the weather mark. The strong current was a factor that required a little extra in the bank while fetching the mark. There was a real evident color change between the flood and the back eddie water along the south shore with a bit of a trade off for the stronger winds out in the middle so it was a bit of a gamble either way.  We had time for 3 races and then back to the club for awards and celebrations.
